Nov 2019 - The Dragon Behind the Glass

The Dragon Behind the Glass
by Emily Voight

Book Group 2 – November 2019

Coveted as a status symbol believed to bring good luck, the Asian Arowana, or 'dragon fish', is an example of a modern paradox: the mass-produced endangered species.  The book starts with the murder of a young man for his pet fish and leads into a journalist's quest to find a wild Asian arowana — the world's most expensive aquarium fish—taking her on a global tour through the bizarre realm of ornamental fish hobbyists to some of the most remote jungles on the planet.  (storytel)

Our group enjoyed the writer's style but agreed the book could have been more concise.  Recommended with a score of 7/10.
