October 2026 - Talk: Technology and Heritage
On 21st October, the MCG hosted Dr Patricia Ann Hardwick, Head of the Sunway Centre for Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage , for a fascinating talk about how technology is used to teach and inform about heritage and the arts and create new ways for communities to learn and engage with them. Dr Patricia described how these techniques have been used in projects the SCDHCH has conducted such as documenting and rendering accessible the rich tradition of the Kelantan Wayang Kulit; highlighting the artistry and skills of the weavers and artisans behind the magnificent textiles of the Merdeka Textile Museum or visualising the iron-age sites of the Sungai Batu Archeological Complex. Dr Patricia and MCG members discussed the opportunities and challenges of rendering this heritage accessible and the importance of facilitating community engagement to keep this heritage alive. Thank you Dr Patricia Ann Hardwick and the SCDHCH for this fascinating talk.
