The book review is below:

We read "The Widows of Malabar Hill" by Sujata Massey, a Perveen Mistry novel also available in Audible and enjoyed it very much!  It is set in the early 1900s and although the beginning took some perseverance, it quickly became a very engaging read.  A young Indian female lawyer is the main character and is able to guide and counsel many from her unique position.  The reader learns a lot about the culture, religion and customs of the time but not in an onerous way--learning is subtle yet delightfully thorough.  The descriptions in the book are not laborious but so well crafted in only a few sentences that one can even smell the surroundings referred to.

This novel is historical and informative but an engaging lighter read.  We'd highly recommend it for personal or for book group purposes.
