Dec 2017 The Hive

The Hive

The owner Claire Sancelot:

Back in the 1980s, a four year old child watched her parents recycle paper and glass in the French city of Lille. Today, that child is 40-year-old Claire Sancelot, now a parent herself to three young girls. Like her “green” parents, she is also doing her bit for the environment. She now hopes her family would join in her efforts. She is married to a Malaysian and is the founder of a popular blog (zerowastehongkong.com).

An inspired speech by Claire Sancelot owner of a social enterprise!

With a lot of pride Claire told us about her For Zero Waster community. She provides her customers with the best quality products at the best prices.

  • They are partners with local organic farmers and since they are a cooperative, they don’t ask for any financial return
  • Most of the their manufactured products are made by women entrepreneurs, social enterprises, disabled and refugees
  • She made us aware that fancy plastic packaging cost up to 15% of the product sold
  • They support Malaysian suppliers and producers where possible with fresh quality produce thereby supporting the local community
  • They greatly reduce packaging and waste
  • They run weekly workshops on healthy zero waste living and cooking workshops
  • They have a great selection of organic, gluten free, paleo and vegan products
  • They support local communities and charities

The products which they sell:

Nuts, seeds, butter, legumes, pulses, dried fruits, grains, cereals, spreads, rice, coffee, tea, vinegar, salt, seasoning, sweeteners, oils, condiments, baking, cleaning products, household products, personal care products, stationery, bags, containers, even dog treats and so much more.

After the speech we enjoyed a wonderful organic lunch.

We had a wonderful morning with 24 ladies.

We thank Claire a lot for her hospitality.

The Hive is open at 9am to 7pm every day (except Sundays).  Address: 92A, Lorong Maarof, Bangsar Park, 59000 Kuala Lumpur.

They encourage their customers to bring their own reusable packaging (bottles, containers and bags).

If you are looking for a welcoming smile, quality food, great prices and some good old-fashioned customer service then go straight to The Hive.

It was great fun to organise this together.
